Can We Still Connect With Animals After They Have Passed?

“Did I do the right thing?”
“Does he forgive me?”
“I feel so guilty.”
“Is she OK, wherever she is?”

These are some of the questions people ask when they come to me seeking communication with a beloved pet who has died.

Communicating with animals after they have passed is perhaps the most meaningful part of my work. It offers comfort to people who are grieving, reassurance for families who are questioning difficult decisions, and acknowledgement of the deep bond that continues long after a pet’s physical life has ended.

One dog I communicated with gave us all an unforgettable experience. He greeted me with enormous excitement, saying, “My eye is fixed! I can see now!”

He immediately showed me all the animals who were with him. Afterwards, his family explained that he had suffered from a brain tumour and experienced seizures. During the seizures, one eye would turn, and he gradually lost his sight. Suddenly, his excitement made perfect sense. They were also able to identify the many dogs and cats he proudly introduced me to—beloved family pets who had passed before him.

Another communication was much quieter, but equally profound.

A family wanted to know whether their little dog forgave them.

Instead of answering with words, she showed me images of being pushed in her pram, being lovingly carried by different family members, and surrounded by the people who adored her. The overwhelming feeling she shared was one of gratitude.

She then showed me other animals she had known in life and who were now with her.

The final image puzzled me. Two men stood facing each other, dressed in formal suits. I couldn’t understand what it meant, so I simply described what I was seeing.

The family immediately recognised the message.

Their little dog had become seriously ill at a young age and eventually lost the use of her back legs. After years of illness, their veterinarian gently advised that euthanasia was the kindest option. The decision devastated the family.

The two women had been too overwhelmed by grief to attend the appointment, so their husband and son-in-law stayed with their beloved companion instead.

The dog was showing them that those two men represented the love, dignity and respect they had given her in her final moments. To her, they had honoured her life in much the same way that we honour a loved one at a funeral.

Her message wasn’t one of blame.

It was one of gratitude.

Knowing this brought enormous peace to the family.

As an End of Life Pet Doula, I have the privilege of supporting families both before and after their animals pass. Whether through Animal Communication, Reiki, Scalar Wave Healing or simply holding space during an incredibly emotional time, my hope is always the same—to bring comfort, understanding and peace.

The love we share with our animals does not end when they die. For many people, neither does the connection.

For me, it is a privilege to witness that bond and to help families find reassurance, healing and hope during one of life’s most difficult transitions. And because I am also an End of LIfe Pet Doula, as well as an animal comunicator, I get to experience the love between animals and their people often.

One small suggestion: because this is your final blog, you might like to end with a gentle invitation such as:

If you are navigating the loss of a beloved companion or have questions that remain in your heart, know that you don’t have to carry them alone. Sometimes a communication can bring the reassurance, understanding and peace needed to begin healing.

Thank you for joining me on this journey through animal communication and energy healing. Whether your companion is young or old, healthy or unwell, still by your side or held safely in your memories, I hope these stories have reminded you of one simple truth: our animals are always communicating with us, and the love we share with them is one of life’s greatest gifts.
